This email is now only going to those who signed up to try dragon boating so if you have co-worker who was interested then you will have to forward the email or check the blog for info.
This Saturday (6/11/16) will be our second practice which starts at 10am.
We still have new people coming so we want meet little early to take attendance, collect waivers, and learn the basics paddling form. Please make sure you add extra time to your commute so that you can find parking and also find our group.
We'll have our APCA signs so look for our APCA Logo.
All practices are counted as point toward Participation Award. Home Work and Extra credit will be sent via email & blog soon.
I will not be leading this practice session. Niccole Springs (310-989-3486) will be leading the practice.
Coaching will be done by Zina Hwang and Lisa Verdon.
Steering will be done by Curtis and Allan.
Our tentative schedule for second practice will be as follows.
10:00am (recommended to arrive earlier) - 10:15am - Sign-in, turn in waivers, meet and greet
10:15am - 10:30am - Beginner lesson on paddling technique and line up for boat
10:30am - 10:40am - Warm-up
10:40am - 10:50am - Get gears (paddle, PFD, water), restroom and line up at the beach
10:50am - 11:00am - Load the boat
11:00am - 12:00pm - On the water practice
12:00pm - 12:20pm - Help bring boats up, clean boats, clean paddles, and clean PFDs
12:20pm - 12:40pm - Stretching
12:40pm - 12:50pm - Huddle
1:00pm - 2:30pm - Team lunch at K.C. Branaghan’s Irish Pub (We recommend supporting them since they sponsor one of our boat) Also, everyone can get separate check.
